This picture depicts the water cycle or the hydrological cycle. The continuous movement of water on, above and below the earth’s surface is called the Hydrological Cycle. The three major processes involved in the water cycle are


• Evaporation


• Condensation and


• Precipitation.


EVAPORATION: It can be defined as the process in which the liquid changes into gas or vapour. This is the fundamental part of the hydrological cycle.


CONDENSATION: It is defined as the process by which water vapour in the air is changed into liquid water. This is the process which is responsible for the formation of clouds.


PRECIPITATION: It is the process by which water is released from the clouds as rain in the earth.
