Check out the chapter-wise explanation for NCERT Class 12 Chemistry Solutions below:

Chapter 1: Solid State

The first chapter of the book will enable you to classify solids into crystalline and amorphous solids. You will later discover that crystalline solids are further classified into four categories. Bravais gave 14 three-dimensional lattices, which can be differentiated based on the measure of the angle between their faces and the relative proportion of the sides.

In the latter half of the chapter, you will study various defects in lattices. Finally, you will learn to distinguish between conductors, semiconductors, and insulators based on their magnetic properties.

Chapter 2: Solutions

The second chapter of the book ‘Solutions’ will include familiar topics from earlier classes, which you will study in-depth. In this chapter, you will also study the effect of pressure on the solubility of a gas, Raoult’s law, characteristics of an ideal solution etc.

At times, you may come across difficulties in finding an accurate answer for a question. At that time, you can refer to NCERT Solutions for Class 12 Chemistry Chapter-2 ‘Solutions’ for better understanding.

Chapter 3: Electrochemistry

In this chapter, you will delve deeper into the concepts of electrochemistry where you will study about electrochemical cells and galvanic cells. Further, you will learn to calculate the standard emf of a cell. Besides, you will revisit the important definitions from previous classes such as resistance, resistivity, conductance, specific conductance, molar conductance etc.

Finally, you will study Kohlrausch law, Faraday’s laws of electrolysis, a battery and its types.

Chapter 4: Chemical Kinetics

Chemical Kinetics is the branch of chemistry where you will study factors affecting the rate of reaction and mechanism involved in various chemical reactions. In this chapter, you will also learn different order of reactions- zero order, first order and second order, depending upon the sum of powers of concentration terms.

In the latter half of the chapter, you will learn to derive the expression for half-life period. On the brink of conclusion, you will be introduced to two important theories of reaction rates- collision theory and transition state theory.

Chapter 5: Surface Chemistry

In Chapter-5 Surface Chemistry, you will study the process of adsorption and how it is different from the process of absorption. Based on the type of atomic force involved, adsorption is classified into physical and chemical adsorption. In the later part of the chapter, you will get to know some important theories- Freundlich adsorption isotherm and Langmuir adsorption isotherm.

Important terminologies of this chapter include catalyst, biological catalysts, colloids, emulsions etc.

Chapter 6: General Principles and Processes of Isolation of Elements

Chapter- 6 includes various terminologies from earlier classes, such as minerals, ores, the process of metallurgy, refining, chromatography etc. Our NCERT 12th Chemistry solutions will provide you with detailed and precise information about all these basic terminologies.

Chapter 7: The p-Block Elements

Inorganic chemistry is a vital part of class 12 chemistry syllabus and requires daily practise, especially when you have a few days left before the exam. The p-Block elements comprise group 15 elements (nitrogen family), group 16 elements, group 17 elements (halogens), and group 18 elements (the noble gases).

Chapter 8: The d- and f- Block Elements

The d-Block elements are found between s-block and p-block elements in the periodic table. The d-Block elements are also called transition elements ,whereas the f-block elements are alternatively called inner-transition elements. In the last topic of this chapter, you will study the properties of lanthanides and actinides.

Chapter 9: Coordination Compounds

The title of the chapter itself indicates the logic behind the formation of compounds. Each central atom in a compound maintains coordination with a suitable number of anions or neutral molecules. Further, the chapter will introduce you to the types of isomerism shown by coordination compounds.

Later, you will study the assumptions made in crystal field theory and its drawbacks. Before the chapter meets its conclusion, you will be able to enlist the importance and applications of coordination compounds.

Chapter 10:
Haloalkanes and Haloarenes

In this chapter, you will learn about the composition of haloalkanes and haloarenes in which halogen atoms occupy the central position. As you proceed, you will get to know different methods for preparation of haloalkanes and haloarenes.

The chemical reactions of haloalkanes and important terminologies such as freons and chloroform are highlights of this chapter.

Chapter 11:
Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers

In this chapter, you will learn about the classification of alcohols, phenols and ethers. Next, you will study the stepwise procedure for preparing alcohols from alkenes and carbonyl compounds. Likewise, this chapter also consists of the preparation processes of phenols and ethers. In the end, you will study the physical and chemical properties of alcohols, ethers and phenols.

Chapter 12:
Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids

Carbonyl compounds are a group of organic compounds consisting of aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids and their derivatives as functional groups. As you proceed further, you will get to know methods of preparation of aldehydes, ketones and carboxylic acids.

Chapter 13:
Amines

Amines are a group of elements that are obtained from the derivatives of ammonia. Amines can be classified as primary, secondary or tertiary based on the number of alkyl groups replacing the hydrogen atoms. Later, you will learn about six different methods of preparation of amines. Other topics of this chapter include chemical properties of diazonium group and importance of diazonium salts.

Chapter 14:
Biomolecules

In chapter 14, you will study an important class of compounds ‘Carbohydrates’ and its types based on their behaviour on hydrolysis and taste. The list of topics in this chapter include Fisher projection for D- and L-glucose, anomers, mutarotation, pyranose structure, inversion of sugar etc.

Besides, there are various important terminologies, such as cellulose, starch, denaturation, enzymes, vitamins, and nucleic acids. Go through our NCERT Solutions for Class 12 Chemistry Chapter-14 to learn question-answers of this chapter.

Chapter 15:
Polymers

In NCERT Solutions for Class 12 Chemistry chapter-15 Polymers, you will study the definition of a polymer and delve deeper into its concepts. Further, you will study the classification of polymers based on the source, the structure of polymers, the mode of polymerisation, and molecular forces.

In the latter half of the chapter, you will learn two broad types of polymerisation reaction. Basic terminologies that are part of this chapter include copolymerisation, natural rubber, vulcanisation of rubber, and biodegradable polymers.
