JEE Main 2020 Paper Analysis (January Session): JEE Main (Jan) 2020 was conducted between January 7 and 9, 2020 by NTA. Results were also announced within 20 days of the exam, which made it clear for the students about their current level of preparation and strategy they should follow for the JEE Main Exam 2020 September Session. 

As we are now approaching the second attempt of JEE Main (September 1-6), various students are looking for detailed JEE Main difficulty level/exam analysis and questions asked in different shifts. In this article, we will be providing you with an overall analysis of each day with questions PDF. 

As per the feedback given by students from various sources, the overall level of the JEE Main January exam (across all shifts) was easy to moderate. The JEE Main 2020 exam for the January session was similar or tad bit difficult as compared to the previous year. Numerical Answer Type Questions were introduced for the first time in JEE Main by NTA. It proved to be beneficial for students, as there were no negative marking and questions were easy to solve. Below is the day-wise analysis for better understanding of difficulty level across all shifts.

JEE Main January 2020 Paper Analysis

Overall JEE Main Paper Analysis 2020 (7th Jan)

The overall level of the exam on the first day was easy to moderate. Despite the nervousness of attempting the exam on the first day, students were happy with their number of attempts. The chemistry was easiest of all, questions were directly theory-based. Maths was moderate and doable. Physics was also moderate. Numerical type questions were calculative but easy.

JEE Main Jan 2020 Section Wise Exam Analysis

Physics

Physics section was of moderate level. Stronghold on concepts was required for scoring a good number of attempts in this section, scoring well in this section will be the key to a good percentile. Numerical type questions were lengthy and a bit calculative in this section. A number of good attempts were 14-17.

Overall JEE Main Paper Analysis 2020 (8th Jan)

As per the feedback received from students, Day 2 was more or less on the same difficulty level as Day 1. Students found the Mathematics section to be quite lengthy, some questions of Physics checked conceptual application and Chemistry section, as usual, was the most scoring of the three. Students of this shift found NATs easier than Day 1.

Physics

Physics section was of moderate level again. It checked the conceptual clarity of students, and the majority of questions were asked from Mechanics and Electric current/EMI. Students find this section a tad bit easier than yesterday. The number of good attempts for this section was 15-18.

The Chemistry section was again a scoring one, Inorganic and Organic Chemistry were again predominant. Going thoroughly through NCERT again proved to be fruitful for students in Chemistry. Number of good attempts for this section was 17-20

Overall JEE Main Paper Analysis 2020 (9th Jan)

As per the student’s feedback, the overall level of the paper was again easy to moderate. The chemistry was again a cakewalk for students, the majority of questions were easy and NCERT based, stronghold over Inorganic Chemistry will give students a certain edge over others. Physics and Maths sections were more or less the same as the first two days, moderate level. Mathematics section was found to be lengthy by various students. Numerical Answer Type questions again didn't cause much of a problem to students. 50-60 attempts can be said to be a good number of attempts for this shift.
