Q. 133.6( 5 Votes )

Write the first five terms of each of the sequence in obtain the corresponding series a1 = a2 = 2, an = an-1 – 1, (n > 2)

Answer :

a1 = a2 = 2
and an = an – 1, n > 2
For n = 3, a3 = a2 – 1 = 2 – 1 = 1
For n = 4, a4 = a3 – 1 = 1 – 1 = 0
For n = 5, a5 = a4 – 1 = 0 – 1 = -1
Hence first 5 terms are 2, 2, 1, 0, -1 and the corresponding series = 2 + 2 + 1 + 0 +(-1)+…
