• The adsorbate molecules are held at surface of adsorbent by weak van der waal forces.
• Lack of specificity i.e. any gas can get adsorbed on solid surface.
• Physisorption is reversible in nature.
• The adsorbate molecules are held at surface of adsorbent by chemical bonds.
• High specificity i.e. chemisorption will only occur if there is some possibility of chemical bonding between adsorbent and adsorbte.
