Adipose tissue is a specialized form of areolar tissue. These cells have fat droplets and the nucleus is pushed to one side. These cells do not have the capacity of division. They occur below the dermis of the skin, around kidneys and in the bone marrow. It contains macrophages, elastin as well as collagen fibres and a few fibroblasts. It provides insulation against cold.
