It gives rigidity to plant cells. Bacterial cell also has a cell wall. (b) Chloroplast Chloroplasts are the "site" of photosynthesis in leaves. It has a green colored pigment chlorophyll, (c) Plastids Function Pigments give fruits and vegetables an orange or red color. Plastids also store photosynthetic products and starch. Foods full of starch contain many plastids. Potatoes, for example, have many plastids in their cells.
