Dalit Panthers were a militant organization of the Dalit Youth which was formed in Maharashtra in 1972.

Main Activities of Dalit Panthers-

(a) Their main activities were focused on fighting against atrocities on dalits.

(b) They wanted to build an All India Organization of all the oppressed sections.

(c) It provide a platform for the Dalit educated youth to use their creativity as a protest activity

(d) Their main agenda was to destroy the caste system.

(e) Dalit writers protested against the brutalities of the caste system.


Describe the story of Goas liberation from the Portuguese to its becoming a state of the Indian Union.

(a) Goa was under colonial rule since 16th century .During Portuguese rule, they suppressed the people, denied civil rights, and convert the people forcefully.

(b)After Independence in Goa there was a strong movement for freedom, which was strengthened by satayagrahis from Maharashtra.

(c)The Indian government sent the army in December 1961 to liberate Goa, Daman &Diu.

(d) The central government held a special opinion poll in Goa asking people to decide about their choice.

(e) Different groups of People had a different opinion regarding the merging of Marathi speaking area with Maharashtra and some Goans were favour to retain a separate identity along with culture.

(f) A Referendum was used. The majority of people remain outside Maharashtra thus Goa continued as union territories and later In 1987 Goa become a State.
