When and where was first oil field in India discovered?
Answer :
Petroleum is the second most important energy resource after coal in India. Digboi in Assam also known as the Oil City is the oldest oil-producing centre in India. Crude oil was first discovered here in the late 19th century, and the first refinery was established here as early as 1901. The first oil well was also drilled here and is still in operation.
