What is the role of agriculture in the Indian economy?
India is an agricultural based country. It is an important sector in the Indian economy as it accounts for 17% in the total GDP and provides employment by about 60% of the population in the country. Over the years there have been Green revolution and it is currently flourishing. It also provides commercial crops which are mainly exported to other countries and act as valuable foreign exchange earners.
