1. Soil erosion is the erosion of the topsoil due to various factors. The topsoil is filled with minerals and it vital for agriculture and the growth of plants. Soil erosion is sometimes a very gradual process, or it can happen at a large scale and at an alarming rate.
2. One of the main causes of soil erosion is heavy rainfall where the topsoil is broken down by the rainwater and swept away.
3. Secondly, heavy winds cause the shift of soil.
4. Thirdly, the roots of trees hold the soil together. Hence large-scale felling of trees can result in soil erosion.
