What is resource
The politics associated with the allocation of distribution of natural resources among the different countries of the world is called resource geopolitics. The what, where, when and how concerned with this allocation encompasses the key points of resource geopolitics.
The relation between trade, war and power have dominated the western ideology about resources. It has led to inter-state rivalry and the global European power expansion has been fuelled by resource geopolitics. Overseas resources and maritime navigation to gain these resources led to the colonial expansion which has shaped world history to a great degree. One of the driving factors of the world economy in the present time is its reliance on oil as a portable and indispensable fuel. This has generated several political struggles to control the resource. Global politics in the 21st century is also influenced by the distribution and access to freshwater resources. Increasing scarcity of the resource has not only affected politics at the global level but also at the national and regional level often leading to conflicts and war. The examples show how the global economy is reliant on resource politics.
