There are various activities which are performed by both men and women. These activities are classified into three sectors such as a Primary, Secondary and Tertiary sector. The activities which focus on the production of goods and services and add value to the national income are referred to as economic activities.
The three types of economic activities are –
• Primary sector – This sector includes agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, fishing, poultry farming, and mining.
• Secondary sector – Such activities which result in the production of goods and services are called secondary activities. Example - Quarrying and manufacturing.
• Tertiary sector – it includes activities of providing services to others. Example - Trade, transport, communication, banking, education, health, tourism, services, insurance, etc.
