What happens when

Answer :

(i) When PCl3 is strongly heated, it decomposes to form PCl3 and Cl2.



(ii) H3PO3 on heating undergoes disproportionation reaction to form phosphine (PH3) and orthophosphoric acid (H3PO4). Since the oxidation number of P in reactants and products is not same anywhere, the reaction is termed as disproportionate reaction.
