What are wastelands?
Answer :
Wastelands refer to areas of land which are unused, empty, barren and unfit for cultivation and building. It is the result of neglect, excessive cultivation and sowing of crops over long periods of time with lesser time to retain its fertility. It can also occur due to use of harmful fertilizers and chemicals which increase acidic content of the soil, killing the micro-organisms which aid in its fertility, soil erosion which is caused by loss of fertile top soil by wind and water, deforestation etc.
