What are the steps taken by the government to ensure gender equality?

The steps taken by the government for ensuring gender equality are as below:

1. Men and women have an equal right to vote.


2. Various steps like Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, etc. are taken for ensuring education for all.


3. Dowry is illegal as per law.


4. While planning, women are targets for several schemes and the government has also introduced gender budgeting.


5. National Commission for Women was set up in January 1992.
