Labour Laws protect the workers against exploitation and harassment at the hands of the employers in the following ways:
a) They help the labourers by limiting the working hours and providing fee/imbursement in case one works for longer hours than stipulated.
b) The Constitution explicitly provides right to form unions and trade groups. These are organisation of the employees that represent the interests of the employees and prevent them against harassment of any kind. They have been successful to argue for increase in wages or number of holidays etc.
c) The Constitution prohibits Child Labour, and says that no child below 14 can be employed in factory or mines work, where there is a genuine threat to their health
d) The Constitution provides for equal wages of men and women. Article 39(d) mandates that same work should account for same remuneration, irrespective of the gender.
