A unitary form of government is one in which power is held by the central government. It is a sovereign state governed as one entity, and any administrative subsidiaries are limited in power by the centre. England and Japan are examples of this. It is good for small countries, and allows for less conflict and speedy administration, but may give rise to authoritarianism and ignorance of local problems.
