Although there are no archaeological records regarding the centre of power, archaeologists have made various assumptions:
i. Archaeologists have labelled a large building founded at Mohenjodaro as a palace.
ii. A stone statue has been labelled as the “priest-king”.
iii. Some archaeologists believe that there were no rulers in the Harappan society and that everybody enjoyed equal status.
iv. Others are of the opinion that there was no single ruler, but several. Each city has its own separate ruler.
v. Some archaeologists also believe that Harappa had a single ruler, given the similarity in artefacts, strategic settlements and the standardised ratio of brick size.
