The Sixth Century
The sixth Century BCE is often regarded as the major turning point in early Indian history because of the following two reasons:
● The period saw an emergence of states, empires, and kingdoms. The political and territorial structure underwent a change. The rise of sixteen states also known as mahajanapadas was the characteristic feature of this century.
● Different ideologies and schools of thoughts such as Buddhism and Jainism started coming up and gained momentum. They were able to attract large groups of people because of their simplistic nature.
