Answer :
With the independence of India and the partition of the country in 1947, the nation was facing the problem of nation-building. The integration of all the princely states and recognition of all the minorities were a major political problem in the country. But the leaders of the country did not see this as a problem; rather it was a way to solve the problem. The leaders in many other recently independent countries of the world decided that their country could not come up with democracy in the present situation. They chose non-democratic regimes like one leader democracy, one-party rule or army rule. Even though democracy introduced many differences and struggles, the leaders of the country were committed to establishing democracy in the country. Our freedom struggle was inspired by the concept of democracy. According to the leaders, democracy would give more alternatives to choose from to solve the differences and inherent struggles.
