The cell division

Answer :

The cell division involved in gamete formation is of reductional type. It is called as meiosis. In this type of division 1 diploid cell divides to form 4 haploid cells. This division is called Reductional Division as the amount of DNA or chromosomal material is half of the total content present in the original cell.

This division is reductional type as at time of reproduction 2 gamete combine with each other thereby gaining back the diploid nature of the cell.
