Given:
Acceleration of the elevator = 
Mass of the block = 
Apparent weight due to pseudo force = 
In equilibrium, we have, 
When the additional mass of 1kg is added,
Apparent weight of the block becomes

In equilibrium, we have, apparent weight=kx
35.4 N=100 × x
Now as per the question we are asked to find further elongation,
∴ further elongation = elongation due to 3kg - elongation due to 2kg
