2. The dilemma of Sri Lankan leadership in trying to resolve this ethnic conflict was that it was difficult to maintain a balance between the two groups of Tamils and Sinhalese. Sri Lanka followed the principle of majoritarianism and the Tamils felt ignored.

3. In spite of this ethnic problem, Sri Lanka had successfully managed to control the rate of growth of the population. They witnessed the highest GDP. They were able to liberalize the economy as well as maintain the democratic system.
