THE MONEKY'S PAW DEBATE HELD
(By Akanksha Nupur, Debate Chairperson)
March 7th, class XIIth-A, Delhi Public School, Patna, today held a debate on the topic- "Should the Sergeant have handed over the paw to someone?" from the play "The Monkey's Paw". A total of four students spoke for and against the motion and presented their viewpoints. Naina and Meera spoke for the topic, whereas Rohit and Abhiraj spoke against the topic.
According to Naina and Meera, the Sergeant was correct in handing over the paw to the Whites, because it was not appropriate to interfere in the work of the paw as it could have a reverse effect on Morris as well. Also, the paw although brought bad consequences, but had fair intentions.
In Rohit and Abhiraj's view, the Sergeant was wrong in handing over the paw, because he was already a victim, and knew that it would bring evil outcomes. So, he should have protected the Whites from any harm. It was inhuman on his part to let them have the paw and invite danger.
All the students of the class participated in the debate extending their support to their respective teams at the end. The teacher was highly satisfied with the performance of the class.
