Reduce the following equations into intercepts form and their intercepts on the axes.(i) 3x + 2y – 12 (ii) 4x – 3y – 6 (iii) 3y – 2 = 0
Answer :
(i) 3x + 2y – 12 = 0
3x + 2y – 12
or = 1
or = 1 (Intercepts form)
where a = 4, b = 6
(ii) 4x + 3y = 6
= 1
= 1 (Intercepts form)
where a = 3/2, b = -2
(iii) 3y + 2 = 0
3y = 2
= 1 ⇒
= 1
