(i) I agree with the fact that during Emergency, the government practically suspended the democratic functioning Also. The state governments were dismissed and its powers were shifted to the central government. The leaders of the opposition party were arrested. There was a suspension of freedom of the press and a complete ban on any strike.

1. It is not easy to do away with democracy in India.
2. The judiciary had become more active.
3. People became aware of their rights.
4. It is realized that internal emergency can be proclaimed only based on armed rebellion.
