Statistics Formulas Class 10 

 In class 10, you will study the following formulas of statistics.

  1. Mean can be obtained by three different ways:
    1. the direct method: x = ∑fixi/ ∑fi
    2. the assumed mean method: x = a + (∑fidi/ ∑fi)
    3. the step deviation method: x = a + (∑fiui/ ∑fi) x h
  2. Median of grouped data can be obtained by the following formula:
    1. Median = l + {(n/2 - cf)/(f)} x h
  3. To obtain the mode for grouped data, use the following formula:
    1. Mode = l + {(f1 - f0)/ (2f1 - f0 - f2)} x h

For a better representation of data, you first convert raw data into an organized form and then apply the formula in accordance with the condition. As mentioned above, there are three major formulas in Chapter-7 RD Sharma Class 10. 

For finding the mean via a direct method, you must be provided with the frequency and class mark. When finding the average through the assumed mean method, you must know the values of the sum of frequency, classmark, and deviation. Step-deviation method is applicable when all the deviations have a common factor.
