Q. 9

# The length of a rectangle is 8 cm and each of its diagonals measures 10 cm. The breadth of the rectangle is

A. 5 cm

B. 6 cm

C. 7 cm

D. 9 cm

Answer :

A rectangle can be divided into two triangles.

Sides of each triangle will be 8cm and 10 cm.

According to Pythagoras theorem,

a^{2} = b^{2} + c^{2}

10^{2} = 8^{2} + c^{2}

c = √ (10^{2} – 8^{2})

c =

c = 6 cm

So, breadth of rectangle is 6 cm.
