Distance between two points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is given by √ (x1-x2)2 + (y1-y2)2
To find distance between P and Q,
X1=x , y1=4
x2=9 , y2=10
So,√ (x-9)2 + (4-10)2 = 10
⇒ (x-9)2 + (-6)2 = (10)2
⇒ (x-9)2 + 36 = 100
⇒ (x-9)2 =64
⇒ x-9 =8 or x-9 =-8 are the two possible solutions.
x – 9 = 8 and x - 9 = -8
x = 17 and x = 1
are the two possible values of x.
