# Radius of base of a cylinder is 20cm and its height is 13cm, find its curved surface area and total surface area.

Answer :

Given: radius of base of cylinder (r) = 20 cm

Height of cylinder (h) = 13 cm

Since it is a cylinder, curved surface area is given by

CSA = 2πrh

Where CSA = Curved Surface Area

r = radius

h = height

⇒ CSA = 2 × 3.14 × 20 × 13

⇒ CSA = 1632.80 …(i)

Total surface area (TSA) of cylinder is given by

TSA = (Curved surface area) + 2 (Circular area of the base of the cylinder)

⇒ TSA = 2πrh + 2πr^{2}

⇒ TSA = 1632.8 + (2 × 3.14 × (20)^{2}) [from (i)]

⇒ TSA = 1632.8 + 2512 = 4144.80

Thus, curved surface area of the cylinder is 1632.80 cm^{2} and total surface area of the cylinder is 4144.80 cm^{2}.
