# In triangle ABC, DE||BC and AD : DB = 2 : 3. Determine the ratio of the area triangle ADE to the area triangle ABC.

Answer :

We know that in similar triangles, the ratio of the areas equal to the ratio of corresponding sides of triangles.

Now, in above figure triangles ADE and ABC are similar. So, the corresponding sides are AD and AB

As, AD:DB = 2:3

AD:AB = 2: (3 + 2) = 2:5
