# Let us solv

Given 2 (x – y) = 3

2x – 2y = 3 … (1)

And 5x + 8y = 14 … (2)

Expressing x of (1) in terms of y,

2x – 2y = 3

2x = 3 + 2y

… (3)

Substituting (3) in (2),

5x + 8y = 14

15 + 26y = 28

26y = 28 – 15

26y = 13

y = 13/ 26

y = 1/2

Substituting y value in (3),

x = 2

By solving, we get x = 2 and y = 1/2.
