# Let us solve the following linear simultaneous equations in two variables by the method of elimination: ax - by = a2 - b2

Rewriting the above equation as …(i) …(ii)

Multiplying equation (i) by ‘b’ and equation (ii) by ‘a’ to eliminate y, we get x = 1
