The question cons A. Both Assertion (A) and Reason (R) are true and Reason (R) is a correct explanation of Assertion (A).

B. Both Assertion (A) and Reason (R) are true but Reason (R) is not a correct ex

C. Assertion (A) is true and Reason (R) is false.

D. Assertion (A) is false and Reason (R) is true.

Answer :

The correct answer is: (a)

We have,

p (x) = x2 + kx + 1

(x – 1) is a factor of p (x)

p (1) = 0

(1)2 + k (1) + 1 = 0

1 + k + 1 = 0

2 + k = 0

k = - 2

Hence, both Assertion (A) and Reason (R) are true also Reason (R) is the correct explanation of Assertion (A)

Option A is correct
