# Write the following polynomials in standard form.

i. 4x^{2} + 7x^{4} - x^{3} – x - 9

ii. p + 2p^{3} + 10p^{2} + 5p^{4} – 8

Answer :

i. In standard form the terms are arranged from highest power of the variable to the lowest power.

So the standard form is as follows:

7x^{4} – x^{3} + 4x^{2} – x + 9.

ii. In standard form the terms are arranged from highest power of the variable to the lowest power.

So the standard form is as follows:

5p^{4} + 2p^{3} + 10p^{2} + p – 8.
