Answer :
Subtracting area of two semi circles from the whole square gives us the area of 2 parts of the shaded region. Being symmetric, we can double the same to obtain the area of all the 4 parts of the shaded region.
Area of square = 14 × 14 = 196 cm2
Area of two semicircles with radii 7 cm = = 154 cm2
Area of two parts of the shaded region = 196 – 154 = 42 cm2
Area of all the four parts = 2 × 42 = 84 cm2
