Answer :

Given area of trapezium = 24.5 cm2, AD = 10 cm, BC = 4 cm and DAB = 90°


We know that area of trapezium = 1/2 (sum of parallel sides) (distance between the parallel sides)


24.5 = 1/2 (10 + 4) r


24.5 = 1/2 (14) r


24.5 = 7r


r = 3.5 cm


We know that area of quadrant = (area of circle)/4


r = 3.5 cm


Area of quadrant, ABE = 9.625 cm2


Area of region DEBC = area of trapezium – area of quadrant


= 24. 5 – 9.625 = 14.875 cm2


The area of the shaded region is 14.875 cm2.
