Answer :

Let us assume the speed of the palne be x km/hr

∴ Increased speed of the plane = (x + 250) km/hr

It is given in the question that,

Total Distance = 1,500 km

We know that,

∴ According to the question,

_{x}^{2} + 250x – 750000 = 0

_{x}^{2} + 1000x – 750x – 750000 = 0

(x + 1000) (x – 750) = 0

∴ x + 1000 = 0

x = - 1000

Or x – 750 = 0

x = 750

As the speed of the plane can never be negative therefore speed of the plane will be 750 km/hr.
