A die is thrown what is the probability of getting a prime number?
Total numbers of elementary events are: 6 being a dice having six faces
Let E be the event of getting a prime number
Total favorable outcomes are: 2, 3, 5
Total number of favourable events = 3
P (prime number) = P (E) = 3/6 = 1/2
Hence, the probability of getting a prime number on throwing a die is 1/2.
