Q. 175.0( 4 Votes )

If each edge of a cube is increased by 50%, then the percentage increase in its surface area is
A. 50%

B. 75%

C. 100%

D. 125%

Answer :

Let original side be x, on increasing it by 50% i.e.

New side will be x + x = x

Total surface area of a cube = 6(side)2

Original surface area = 6 (x)2

New surface area = 6 (x)2 = 6× x2 = x2

Change in surface area = x2 − 6 (x)2

Taking LCM of 2 and 1 = 2

The percentage increase in its surface area is
