# A cylindrical pipe has inner diameter of 7 cm and water flows through it at the rate of 192.5 litres per minute. Find the rate of flow in kilometres per hour.

Answer :

**Given:**

Inner diameter = 7 cm

Rate of flow of water = 192.5 litres/min.

**To find:** Rate of flow of water.

**Formula Used:** Volume of cylinder = πr^{2}h

**Explanation:**

The inner diameter of the pipe = 7 cm

The inner radius of the pipe = = 3.5 cm

We have,

Water flows at the rate 192.5 litres per minute,

⇒ The volume of water that flows in 1 min = 192.5 l

⇒ Volume of water that flows in 60 min = (192.5 × 60) l

As 1 l = 1000 cm^{3}

⇒ (192.5 × 60) l = (192.5 × 60 × 1000) cm^{3}

Let “h” cm be the length of __column__ of water which flows in 1 hour.

As water is flowing from __cylindrical__ pipe,

So, Water column forms a cylinder of radius 3.5 cm and length “h” cm.

Volume of water that flows in 1 hour = volume of the cylinder

⇒ h = 300000 cm

As

⇒ h = 300000 cm

= 3 km

Hence, the rate of flow of water is 3 km/h.
