Find the values of k for which the line (k–3) x – (4 – k2) y + k2 –7k + 6 = 0 is parallel to the y-axis.
The given equation of the
(k–3) x – (4 – k2) y + 6
If the given line is parallel to the y- axis, then its slope will be undefined.
The slope of the line is =
Now, is undefined at k2 = 4
⇒ k2 = 4
⇒ k = 2
Therefore, if the given line is parallel to the y – axis, then the value of k is 2.
