The diary of Anne is full of emotions. She narrated every incident from her life like when she was depressed and despair to when she was happy and cheerful. She faced a lot of troubles in her daily life. In spite of that, she always kept a positive attitude towards life. She always sees the positive side of anything. This is what the inner conflict that is mentioned in her story.


There were outer conflicts as well with her. The situation of the Jews in Europe made her sad and distressed. Jews in Europe were killed by Nazis and many of them went hiding here and there. Continuous raids and bombing were happening in the air. So, Anne and her family had to face many problems because of this. So, it reflects the external conflicts.

There was a continuous change in the mind of Anne in her entire life span. At first, she was cold-hearted towards her mother. But with the passage of time, she admits that she was wrong. She made few confessions like her mother treated her more a friend than as a daughter and about the sweet secret. Later she revealed how she felt for Peter as a friend and more than a friend. She narrated how she fell in love with Peter. She further confesses in her dairy that how she felt orphan in her own family.


In the latter part of her dairy, she confessed how she was treated so well on her birthday with extra sugars. She also wrote about her behaviour towards her parents and confessed that they are the best parents whom anyone could hope for. She further wrote about the confusing behaviour about the people when they are alone and when they are surrounded by people.


She also mentioned how the situations would have been different in the family if all of them remain open with each other. She also narrated about her growing faith in God. She also narrated about the flying rumours about the Allied invasion of Holland. There were speculations that the Germans might destroy the dams and flood the Netherlands. Anne doesn’t pay any interest to such speculations. She felt that she had reached a point in her life where she hardly cares if she lives or dies.
