The frictional force acts opposite to the direction of the applied force or the driving force applied by the boy on the table because frictional force prevents relative motion between two surfaces in contact.


The normal reaction force is acting on every leg of the table and is equal in magnitude and the sum of the total normal reaction force is equal to the weight of the table acting at the centre of the table.



The horizontal lines at the end of the legs of the table are the frictional forces.
