Chapter 2: Land, Soil, Water, Natural Vegetation, and Wildlife Resources

Introduction: Chapter 2 of NCERT Class 8 Geography tells about human dependency on land, water, soil, wildlife, and natural vegetation. Out of the total land area, people occupy only 30% of land mass, and the rest are either less populated or uninhabited. 

The next topic will tell you about land usage for different purposes, such as agriculture, building houses, forestry, mining, and establishment of industries. Chapter 3: Mineral and Power Resources

Introduction: The chapter “ Minerals & Power Resources” discusses the topic of minerals, which are naturally occurring substance and has chemical composition. Hence, the composition of minerals divides them into two types- Metallic & Non-Metallic. The extraction of minerals includes processes like mining, drilling and quarrying. 

In chapter 3 of NCERT Geography Class 8, you will also study the distribution of minerals as they are found in different types of rocks. Then, the next topic to discuss is the uses of minerals, which are used in various industries.
