(a) The weather condition in Iceland region which is inhospitable was decidedly hurricane like. The road was too much affected by constantly blowing hard wind and road are also not having a hard surface.

(b) The training included doing two 160 kilometers a day back-to-back. The narrator have faith in his mother’s physical ability as he had seen her how she had raised her six children and managed to put in long hours in doing physical work in small farm.

(c) The narrator thought that this trip might give energy and a new life to his mum who had started to slow down in 50’s and he thought that this would spice up her boring life and boost her retiring and tentative persona.

(d) The narrator’s mother trained furiously for the cycling trip months in advance. His mother stood as the most dedicated among him, his friend Allen and her and was soon riding 80-100 kilometers per day.
