in Figure 5.68 lines l and m are parallel. Then find the value of x. Give reason also.


Answer :

In the above figure,


Let the transversal intersect at CD at point O.


So COG and AGO are interior angles lying at the same side of the transversal and hence their sum has to be 180°.


AGO + COG = 180°


Given, COG = 68°


AGO + 68° = 180°


AGO = 180 – 68


= 112°


AGO = EGB as they are vertically opposite angles.


x + x = 112°


2x = 112°


x = 112 / 2


x = 56°
