Answer :
The complete digestion in our body takes place in the SMALL INTESTINE.
The end products form on complete digestion are:
• DIGESTION OF CARBOHYDRATES-
Carbohydrates are present in the body as complex sugars. In order to provide energy, these complex sugars are broken down by the various enzyme at a different level. The polysaccharides are first broken down to disaccharide which in return are broken into monosaccharide.
(by maltase)
(by lactase)
(by sucrose)
• DIGESTION OF PROTEINS-
Proteins are made up of polypeptide chains and their break down results in the formation of simple units called amino acids. The breakdown of protein starts in the stomach by the enzyme pepsin.
It is then converted to amino acids by dipeptidases in the small intestine.
Proteins → dipeptides → amino acids (by dipeptidases)
• DIGESTION OF FATS-
Fats occur in large globules, hence, their breakdown cannot occur only by the enzyme. Firstly the bile juice secreted by the liver converts the fats into small globules.
The enzyme lipases then act on these small globules and coverts fats into fatty acids and glycerol.
Di and monoglycerides → Fatty acis + Glycerol (by lipases)
