The blood groups in humans are controlled by three alleles, out of which only two are present in an individual. This is called multiple-allelism.


Instead of one trait being dominant over the other, both traits appear, it is called co-dominance. In human blood groups, both IA and IB are expressed equally which causes the individual to have AB blood group.
